Chronically Biased - Keeping Tabs On The Houston Chronicle
I am wondering how this will affect the distribution of the August 29, 2004 Passion of the Christ material.

ANNOUNCING THE 50 DAY GOVERNMENTAL HOUSE OF PRAYER IN COLORADO SPRINGS
1 Tim 2:1 makes it clear that praying for government and civic leaders is an important priority. This summer, a House of Prayer dedicated to praying for our nation and its leadership and the upcoming elections.
LOU ENGLE: 120 NAZIRITES
We believe God is calling for 120 YOUNG NAZIRITES to come to Colorado Springs for 50 days of day and night worship and intercession. We're inviting thousands more to join them from July 10 to August 28, 2004.
This will be no easy walk in the park. It will be intense. Each student will be expected to give eight hours a day or night... Many will go on extended fasts. The night watches will be as important as the day battles. Pleaase forward to your friends this week.
I am asking for worship teams that can carry the fire of worship. There will be two-hour shifts for devotion and spiritual refreshing. Then we will follow the Lord again into the battle for the elections, for the courts of our nation and the overturning of Roe v. Wade, for a great youth awakening, for peace and stability in Iraq and for a powerful move of the Holy Spirit in the homosexual communities of America...
CINDY JACOBS:
The previous generation stood by, largely silent as prayer was removed from school. Today, we face similar threats to our freedoms and we have to ask ourselves:
How will the next generation judge us? Will we be those who fought valiantly for the cause of Christ, or will we be silent and apathetic while the courts of this country take that which is precious to us?
It is matter of months, not years before this could happen. We must be fierce in our passion for Christ and our love for America or else find our religious liberties taken and the biblical foundation of our nation eroded. I urge you: do whatever you have to do to come to Colorado Springs this summer to stand in the gap for America!
THE CAUSE USA
The Cause USA (www.TheCauseUSA.com) is a prayer initiative to urgently mobilize nationwide prayer and fasting for America. Though The Call offices have officially closed since January 2004, the need to fast and pray for our nation is greater than ever! In the four short years since The Call DC, America has endured the horrors of 9/11 and fought two wars that continue to claim lives.
SPIRITUAL CRISIS
The nation and the church are buckling under an escalating spiritual and moral crisis, punctuated by events such as the removal of the Ten Commandments from the Alabama courthouse, the Catholic Church sex abuse scandals and the ordination of a practicing homosexual being given a place of prominence and spiritual authority within the Body of Christ as an Episcopal Bishop...
Our nation is in desperate need of historic revival leading to righteous reformation! Recently, Massachusetts became the first state in our nation's 200 year history to recognize homosexual marriage, in bold defiance of the law of God.
AMERICA AT THE CROSSROADS
The outcome of this election will shape America's judicial future for decades to come.
The next President of the United States of America will almost certainly decide the fate of abortion: whether millions of innocent lives will continue to be taken 'legally' in our country.
Chief Justice Rehnquist, appointed 32 years ago by Nixon, is now 80. Justice Stevens, a liberal, is 84 years old. Justices O'Connor and Ginsburg are 74 and 71 years old respectively. Any of these Justices could vacate their seats during the next 4 years, due to illness, death or retirement...
In addition to electing our next president, thirty-four U.S. Senate seats and all 435 U.S. House seats are up for re-election in 2004 and in light of what is at stake, it is crucial that the church gather for extended prayer and fasting.
SEPTEMBER 11 PRAYER VIGIL
We are urgently calling for 24-hour fasting and prayer vigils on September 11, around the country, in all 50 states. This is a grass roots event, mobilized by local churches at state capitols and city halls.
GOVERNMENTAL HOUSE OF PRAYER
There will also be 50 days and nights of continuous worship and prayer in Colorado Springs at the Governmental House of Prayer to cry out to God for following issues:
- For righteous senators, congressmen and a godly president to be elected.
- For a shift in the courts of this land, back to the biblical foundations our laws are based on, and for the reversal of Roe vs. Wade.
- For a revival that leads to reformation in America.
- For a sweeping outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the gay and lesbian communities and for a great harvest with true repentance and for the church to receive these new believers with love.
- For a great youth revival on college campuses and the birth of another Student Volunteer Missions Movement.
"There are moments in history when a door for massive change opens. Great revolutions for good or for evil occur in the vacuum created by these openings. It is in these times that key men and women, even entire generations, risk everything to become the hinge of history, that pivotal point which determines what way the door will swing."
This November, that door of destiny is once again opening for America as we face what will surely be a closely contested election and a fight for the moral and cultural direction of our country.
This is not the summer to sleep! Join us in The Cause!

Take time to watch the clouds!
Well, it has been a long time, but Monday afternoon I was forced to wait! What a wonderful thing. I have looked to the skies and marveled at the beauty of the clouds, but it has been a while since I allowed my mind to see the beauty of the detail. The 'camera phone' allowed me to capture an image, but all you who know what cloud watching is all about know that there are only a few seconds that a cloud shape reveals that beautiful detail of God's gift in that moment.
Now you may strain to see it, but I saw 'Alf' turn into a Daddy Bear with his little cubs riding on his back. I guess the day after Father's Day and a society that diminishes the role of a Father in the family and allows for an increasing number of surrogates makes me see the Daddy Bear instead of the Momma Bear, but if it looks like a Momma to you, that's ok too! The cloud is for everyone to enjoy! Thanks God!

The Spanish Wave!
Jorge Ramos did a book signing event in Houston and I was able to meet the man. He has a strikingly common way about him. Very familiar to everyone, no respect of education or socio-economic status. I am glad to see that the message of the bi-cultural impact is expressed so succinctly. Read his books... it's like Ragu Sauce, it's in there.

Spiritual Freshness
A Reflection
by Doug Stringer
It was nearly 4am. I couldn't sleep so I had been on the internet working on some upcoming travel itineraries. Earlier in the week, I felt like I had hit the wall, battling not only physical weariness in my body but also the mental and emotional fatigue that so often come from carrying the weight of the ministry.
That's when I got an email from a pastor in Malaysia. The email was titled, "How to stay fresh spiritually."
"I am in the process of preparing a teaching on the above topic," he wrote, "and I thought I would glean some personal secrets from men of God all over the world. Would you mind sharing how you do it?"
Of course, I typed my response immediately, wishing to help my friend with his request. As I reflected on the truths that have carried me over the years, I found myself being strengthened and refreshed, as well.
Dr. Ed Cole, my spiritual father, taught me that "sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is get some rest." One thing the late Leonard Ravenhill taught me is that we should always take God seriously, yet not to take ourselves too seriously.
"Personally," I wrote to my friend, "I ask regularly of the Lord to restore to me the JOY of His salvation. Sometimes I get so consumed in the mission and vision of God that I forget to enjoy the salvation of the Lord.
"Each morning I awaken with the Lord by saying to Him, 'Thank you Lord for this day that You have made...help me to rejoice and be glad in it. Lord, as I make myself available to You, help me not to think more highly of myself, yet help me to be confident in You. Help me to be a man of humility and yet have confidence, not in my flesh, but in You, my Lord.'"
In my deepest pits of despair and challenges, I try (by His grace) to give Him a drink-as the woman at the well in John 4-of adoration, worship, and praise. Even when I cannot muster the natural or physical strength, I begin-in an act of sheer faith- to thank the Lord for His lovingkindness, His mercies, and His faithfulness.
There are times when I realize I cannot bring supplications, but just adoration. Like David, I must encourage myself in the Lord. I am nothing without Him. There is nothing without Him.
I am assured of these five promises, these steadfast truths:
1. His MERCY endures forever;
2. His LOVE endures forever;
3. His TRUTHS endure forever;
4. His WORD endures forever; and
5. His NAME endures forever.
THE LORD IS... How can I add anything more? HE IS...
And He knew, at that moment, exactly what I needed. A simple question, a simple
request, yet generating a profound reminder to me to praise Him in all things.
"Give me a drink."
Jesus help me know how to GIVE YOU A DRINK, and in so doing may I be refreshed, as I drink from the wells that never run dry.

Hello from London!
Hello everyone.
Wow, I can't believe that I've finally arrived to London. God is truly awesome, and has blessed me continually. First of all, my flight was great. I ended up taking a taxi to my flat (apartment), and it ended up costing £77, which is like $160 American. Yeah, the £ is = to 2 American dollars, so its kinda expensive here. Anyway, my flat is super nice, and I have 3 other flatmates who are nice as well. Everything is pretty different here, but its super pretty, and I am having a great time! The city is beautiful here. I havent had time to site see yet due to many meetings and interviews, but we'll start on Thursday. I met with the company that I'm interning with which is The London Chamber of Commerce! Yeah, just havning the opportunity to intern there is amazing.
The lady who met with me was really nice, and she informed me of what I'll be assisting with. My job description is as follows: Working on the events team, helping with databases and VIP guest lists, assiting and attending a number of very high profile events, and researching venues and themes for these events!!! Wow, I'm so excited, and very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you all so much for your prayres, support, and for being such incredible friends in my life. I miss you all so very much, and I will continue to keep in touch, and please do the same as well. I am also including my telephone number if any of you want to call sometime.
The number is 011-207-693-5371. Thank you all for being such awesome friends. Please keep me in your prayers.
Love you all so very much-Tabitha Gonzalez
