2007... and we're on!

Another year's milestone passed by, and thus begins the task of preparing our hearts and defining vision for a new year.

I've been acutely aware that it wasn't that long ago that the Impending Doom of Y2K had many in a flutter. I subsequently observed quite a number of Gulf Coast families who benefited from individuals which had stored up water, generators, non-perishable food and other disaster preparedness items. Amazingly, the response of many countries (including the U.S.) to Indonesia's TSUNAMI was now over 2 years ago. That country in turn responded to many affected by hurricane damage suffered by Katrina & the lesser supported Rita.

We are seeing an increasing amount of meteorlogical anomalies. Whether the crises(plural) are greater because 'modern man' has chosen to live in beehive/anthill type communities and are predisposed to an increased negative impact, or it really is an increase in activity that is causing 'men's heart to fail because of fear' [Luke 21:26] I sincerely believe that people who profess to be Ambassadors or Living Epistles will have an opportunity to 'Put Up or Shut Up'. [Luke 21:13]

Scathing scrutiny has challenged the deepest and most entrenched bastions of western-styled faith. Some of the strangest & most illogical belief structures have become widely accepted and even promoted as being 'better' than traditional Judeo-Christian faith affirming ancient writers' [Paul to Timothy 4:3] strongly held belief that if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

The knee-jerk reaction of most then is... 'Well who says you're right!?' .... you know that's a good question.
I observed for many years in developing young leaders that the Screaming Question: "Are you the True God?" was often looked at as doubt, when it was primarily a vital question!! I have always said that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Asking questions is a good way to get answers. It is not a sign of weakness. Western marketers try to dumb us down with statements like, 'Why ask why?' TO GET AN ANSWER!.. THAT'S WHY! When you have a committment from the Author of Truth to get an answer to your questions... Why not ask!? When I spoke recently to a group of young emerging leaders in Houston, I reflected on the Plan for Our Life. Ultimately, and I concluded with this, it's not about us! It's about OTHERS!

A stated life purpose of one of my good friends is 'TO KNOW TRUTH!' Sometimes you just gotta ask! and you know what? That's when you usually get an answer. [Hebrews 11:6] The caveat... Our hurried lifestyle often will preclude our ability to get answers... simply because we don't want to wait. I NEED TO LEARN TO WAIT.

So this year, as I wait, I want to find direction for my life that will yield the greatest impact. I'm not real good at treading water, and as many times as I have found myself in the surf in that predicament, I often just get tired and let the current take me... not always a good thing! I need to strike out in definite directions, establishing milestones & road markers for those who may choose (at their own risk) to follow. Warning of obvious and hidden dangers, as well as marking the breathtaking vistas of Creation that demand to be noticed and appreciated.

I am confident in my faith. I am confident in my future. I want to work more efficiently and with direct purpose. I will do that by giving as much of what I have to as many as will ask.

You may have heard me voice my MISSION STATEMENT IN LIFE:
I want to work myself out of a job... so I can do another job.

There is a lot to do, a short time to do it, and not as many people to do it as you would probably want to have to do the job. That means the job will either not get done, or will only get done under miraculous circumstances.

If I want to go fast, I travel ALONE. If I want to go far... I travel TOGETHER... I WANT TO GO FAR! I NEED TO GO FAR!!

January 1, 2007. A New Year's Day like many others, but in MANY ways... very different!
