Traders Village Pow-Wow

The 2nd weekend in November is one of the biggest Indian Pow-Wows in the Texas Gulf Coast area. Indigenous tribal members travel from across the country to share and compete in dancing and tribal dress competitions.

Independence - the Land of the Free

One of the gripping realities in the U.S. is the glaring oversight of the First Nations People and all the issues they have faced with European Encroachment.  The Trail of Hope Conference for First Nations youth was this week in Durango, Colorado.   It was a heavy heart that surrendered my notice of absence for this event.  I love gathering with the heritage of my Great Fathers.

I believe in the Great Mystery because I am a follower of Jesus.

I can't resist putting a link to some of the tunes on a CD for children that celebrates the cultural drums/chorus. Lakota Sioux delegation renounces all Treaties with U.S. Declare Independence

Incredible! I find it interesting that I was discussing the topic (of Native People's in general) with a total stranger yesterday. As I remarked about the sadness of so many broken treaties with First Nations peoples, we discussed that it would be a hard thing for those wrongs to ever be made right... such as reparations and all that. The delegation making this announcement is not an official spokesgroup for the Lakota Sioux. I feel we should begin to pray for all leaders to have wisdom in the decisions they will make that will affect these nations.
