Agustín Garza Palacios - 18 años

Agustin was a colleague of my youngest son, Erik. Saturday morning he graduated with the 50th graduating class of Aldine High School - Class of 2007. That Memorial Day weekend he traveled to San Nicolás de los Garza, in the area of Monterrey, Mexico where he unfortunately made the local newspaper.

After a 15th Birthday (Quinceañera) celebration for a young lady he was assaulted by a group of young men and stabbed 4 times, wounding him mortally on Sunday, March 28, 2007.

I am sad that my son has lost a classmate so early in their quest for a future. It is even more saddening that this was for such a small thing, definitely not worth his life.

What can you say to your children each time they walk out the door to visit friends, or spend time with their peers? Is this the type of conflict resolution skills that this generation will use to resolve issues in their life? How can we help them?

F.U.E.L. - Cyber Cafe: HardCore Dancing

Mike and Shari May have an awesome ministry site [F.U.E.L. - Cyber Café] just a few miles North of Houston's Intercontinental Airport in Humble, Texas. Mike has a gift for video production and his media page is a good browse. Being as old as I am, I don't hear about these kind of things until they are historical events (like me). Check out this video! It's worth the wait on the download.

Click here to see the movie!

I guess what I appreciate most is that God has someone to reach out to all the different 'peoples' in the world today. If this is a changing genre, then who is searching out the new 'tribes' that haven't heard Good News... and who is learning their language to be able to speak to them in a way they will understand?

The Power of Prayer!

If you happen to read this today (Tuesday), I would like to ask you to pray for my Brent, my sister's husband, and a man who loves God. He is pending some critical heart-related procedures. I know that your prayer WILL make a difference.

Thanks so much.
PAX,

as you prepare for 4th of July... consider this Christmas Story in May...

JESUS & THE ELVES

And Joseph went up from Galilee to Bethlehem with Mary, his espoused wife, who was great with child. And she brought forth a son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. And the angel of the Lord spoke to the shepherds and said, "I bring you tidings of great joy. Unto you is born a Savior, which is Christ the Lord."
"There's a problem with the angel," said a Pharisee who happened to be strolling by. As he explained to Joseph, angels are widely regarded as religious symbols, and the stable was on public property where such symbols were not allowed to land or even hover.

...because this is a desert and they're not from here. They look nice, but they require lotsa upkeep and maintenance. What about those little indigenous plants that were here for millenia before the Gold Rush brought all these people out here. They don't even need to be watered! They have survived this long because all of the other plants have eliminated themselves because they don't have the capability of survival. That's a good example of grassroots organizations that survive through feast and famine funding.
